I'm not a knitter, yet, but you started by creating a band of ribbed fabric which creates more stability, less give, and is usually a finished edge. Given your estimated time frame I would not figure it to be an article of clothing for a person. But you do have a knitted cardigan on your to-do list.
FWIW, you have inspired me and as a result I have crocheted two bathroom rugs and have started on the first of three kitchen rugs. THANK YOU, CHRISTINE!
And now I have finished the three kitchen rugs. So since reading of your blog, I have crocheted 5 rugs! Now, I am about to start crocheting "chemo caps" to donate as part of "Halos of Hope."
