Last week's project

I saw a pattern in Crochet magazine that I had to try right away. I'm not sure why that pattern called my name. I'm very proud of how cute it turned out. Now I have to decide what to do with it.

It was a lot easier than it looks. The hardest part is keeping track of the rows since each one is different.
My next project from that magazine is a multicolored pastel baby blanket I am making with leftover yarn. I started it a couple of days ago and hope to get done this weekend.

More Hats

Team colored hats. I obviously had nothing better to do that day. I'll take them to my next craft.
See you there!

Giant Orange Slippers

These slippers were fun and quick to make. I'm not sure who will wear theses bright orange, XL slippers but there they are.

They only took about a day to make.
The foot is about 11" long.

Seminoles or Gryffindor?

I used a Christmas stocking pattern, followed it sometimes, and came up with this. It was fun.
It is roughly 15" tall.
All it needs is a wire hook to hang it up.

Craft Fairs

I've got a couple of craft fairs to go to n the next couple of months so I'm trying to get ready. I think I'll concentrate on hats, scarves, and possibly prayer shawls. I might also start making cowls, I have had requests.

Patriots Quilt

This quilt was commissioned. I had to order the fabric online since the patriots are not local (not even close). The photo does not do the red fabric justice, it is actually a vibrant red color, not orangy.
I finished it this evening, then my cat took it for a test nap. She loves to check out my handywork.

On to my next project ......

I'm back!

I've been a little absent-minded lately. I apologize. I am back and will be making more regular posts.
I have been crafting, sewing, knittting, and crocheting, as usual.
I've been working on a "Patriots" quilt that was commissioned.
I have also been doing alterations on the High School's madrigal costumes. Now that the alterations are done, I will start making he peasant blouses and shirts they need.
I've also been working on a prayer shawl to be donated to a local church for their silent auction on Sunday.
I've even had time to squeeze in a hat.
I will post pictures of these projects over the next few days.

Yet another hat

For someone who does not wear hats, I certainly have developed a knack for making them. This is the latest one I whipped up a couple of days ago when I was bored. It is about toddler size.
Now I need to decide if it needs a pompom or not.

Nothing fancy. Red Heart super saver yarn and size 8 dpns.

Knit Purse

I was inspired by one of those free idea sheets at the craft store. I only changed a few things: the yarn, the color, the size, and the stitches used. I reallly like the way it came out and I will post the directions if anyone is interested in making one.

The first picture highlights the stitches used and the corner detail at the bottom. The second one shows the color in a different light. The color is off in the third picture, but you can get an idea of the size.

Quick finish project

Yesterday I decided to finish this kid's quilt. The top was done so it only took about an hour to back it and tie it DMC floss at all the corners. It is made of 100% cotton with polyester batting. It measures 35"x52".

This quilt will be put up for sale.

Sewing Today

I found several started projects yesterday as I was sorting through some storage boxes in my sewing room. Most are very close to completion, I hope to put in a few hours of work anf finish several.
Results will be posted later.

I don't know if I should claim this one ...

My child wanted a slouchy Beanie.

Maybe I need to stop taking requests.

Purple Tutu

This was a request from a 16 yr old for her birthday!

It only took a couple of hours to make. The worst part was cutting 6 yds of fabric into 3" strips.

Round Hat

So I thought I would start knitting a hat, ad-libbing, to see what happens.

This is what happened.
Sometimes I wonder about the things I come up with, although I do think it is cute and the stripes are fun.
Anybody need a funky hat?

Purple Poncho

I just found this poncho sitting in my sewing room, finished. That was a quick projext and a lot of fun. It was made in the spring. The poncho is a very nice lavendar color and sized for a preteen, small teen, or petite lady. The back is straight across with a point in the front. It could be embellished in many ways such as bows or ribbons or flowers.

Aloha Shirts

These are the Clerical Aloha Shirts I made this week.
They were made using cotton fabrics bought in Hawaii. The shirts have placket fronts ad collars adapted to fit clerical tabs.

Candycorn Shawl

Finished this in a couple of days over Labor day week-end. I'm not happy with the way the hat is coming out so I'm still trying to fix it.
I have made another hat in the meantime as well as two Aloha shirts, I have also started making a Madrigal dress for an upcoming chorus performance.

Labor Day Weekend

I spent part of Friday and all of Saturday in Panama City Beach for a Taekwondo tournament. I don't do Taekwondo but my girls do, and need a driver/passenger. I started and almost finished a shawl. I got a lot of compliments from people who stopped to ask what I was making. The rest of this weekend was spent recovering from a stomachache and a headache. I will post a picture of the shawl soon.

Pompom Hat

I saw a hat like this but it was crocheted. I wanted to try knitting one. This is the result. I will start posting patterns that I create for those interested in trying to make something similar.

The bottom circumference is 11". It needs to be a little taller, I will include that change when I write up the pattern.

I am also considering starting an e-shop to sell all these things I love making but don't need. Any Ideas or suggestions?

Baby cap

After making the preemie size cap with baby yarn, I decided to try it with worsted weight. It was pretty quick and just as cute.

Knit preemie hat

I found this pattern on http://www.sorellaandcompany.wordpress.com/

I worked it entirely on dpns (don't like circular needles, don't know why). I had some cute baby yarn so I used 4mm instead of 4.5mm needles.

It came out realy cute but of course, smaller than the original. It only took a few hours to make while watching TV.

I plan on making more, in various sizes and colors.

Attempted Christmas Stocking

One of my oopses.
I'm not sure what went wrong but I like the idea. I'll have to try it again after a few modifications.
I think I would rather work it in the round instead of having seams. The heel needs to be a little smaller.
Good thing I have a few more months to figure it out.

Completed Project

Phone case from a pattern ordered online. The fabric came from Hawaii.

Thiscase can be adapted to fit different size phones. It was an easy, quick project.

Back to School week

Now that the frenzy of the first week of school is over, I can get back to my crafting.
I have been working on small projects in the car as I ride around town while my 15 yr old drives. I also have to wait for her during her classes: more crafting. I can crochet, knit, and cross stitch in the car. I will post pictures this afternoon.

Blue Dress

Today, I finally finished a dress I started a year ago. It was sitting there waiting for buttons and a couple inches of top stitching. The fabric was a gift from a friend after a trip home to Hawaii. I can't wait to waer it. (I'll try to get a better picture of it soon.)

Productive day yesterday

I finished a dress for my 15 yr old,

and a doll outfit from a kit, complete with purse. It gives me some practice working on that scale.

There's room for improvement .I need to get proportions right for collector's doll.

What to do today?

Should I make doll clothes, a tote bag, or a shirt?
I could also do some alterations on a dress or work on more holiday gifts.
Feel free to give me your suggestions or wait to see what I post later.

Did anyboby guess Fingerless Gloves?

I finished these last night. They are a gift for the holidays.

Guess what?

This is my new knitting project. It should be done in the next day or two. Can you guess what it is?

Small sewing projects today

Today I finally had time to work on some fun crafts. Mom got some fun patterns to try. I made a cell phone case, key fobs, and a book carrying case. The cell phone cover was a little wide and a little short. Oops! I will definitely try it again after adjusting the size. I didn't have the right size binding for the book cover. I needed wide double fold bias but all I had was quilt binding: way too big. The key fobs, on the other hand, came out really cute and useful. One has a jump drive in it, the other has lip balm. See the pictures!

Dad's Shirt

I spent the afternoon finishing Dad's shirt yesterday. It turned out great. 1 down, 1 to go. Sorry, the picture is not very good (because the shirt blends into the backround).

Before I work on that, I have another project to finish: a banner for a little girl getting baptized this Sunday. A 9" x 12" quilted banner with her name and the date on it. These banners are fun and quick projects.

No crochet for a while

My right thumb won't cooperate. It is taking longer to heal this time after popping out. I will have to give it more time to recover. I can't really hold my crochet hook so I will have to work on other projects.

Day of rest

Yesterday was not a productive day. We all need a day of rest once in a while. I am back in the saddle today to work on Dad's shirt and put the buttons on the vest while I'm driving the kids around.
I'll probably look through my stash to find another "passenger seat" project. I will post my accomplishments later today.

Dad's Shirt

My Dad's favorite shirts are the ones I made years ago.
He asked me to make some new ones.

Making a shirt is normally fairly easy but he has a very specific design in mind and I can't find a pattern. I have to redesign the front of the shirt since I don't remember how I modified it last time (6 or 8 years ago).

Small Projects Day

I will, again, be spending time in doctor's waiting rooms. That will be a good time to work on small projects. That is a good time for me to work on Pop top bracelets and crochet hats.

These are some of my pop top bracelets. I make them using various ribbons yarns and fibers. They take on a different look depending on the materials used.

ADD attack

I got sidetracked several times yesterday. I call them ADD moments. I played with other crafts and did not finish yesterday's projects until today.

The tank top is seamed up and looks cheerful and comfortable. The bag's strings are all tucked in, it's ready to go to the store.
I ran into a problem with the vest. Although I own a couple of hundred buttons, I could not find the right ones for the vest.

Photos will follow soon.

Today's projects

A vest: it needs blocking and buttons.

A bag: the ends need to be woven in.

A tank top: it needs a side seam and possibly a crochet edge to give it a more finished look.

Day 2

Today I will be spending some time on the road, in the passenger seat. I will take some small crochet projects with me to work on in the car. I will post pictures when I get home.

Finished bag

I finished my first project yesterday. The bag is done and looks great. Even my quiet husband offered a compliment.

Day 1

Today I have to pick a project and show progress. What will I do?
I have a small duffle bag that is almost finished and I believe it could be useful when finished so I will finish that today.
As you can see, my cat decided to help.

1st post

Welcome to my blog. I will be keeping you posted on the progress of my new-found determination to  finish old projects while completing new ones and possibly starting a new self employed career.
